Les Miles has a new seven-year contract at LSU that also will result in a pay raise for one of the most successful coaches in the history of the Tigers’ football program. “I’m a LSU head coach and will be a LSU head coach for as long as I can be,” Miles said Wednesday. “Hopefully, we’ll look up seven years from now and I’ll be looking for another seven-year extension.”

Miami Heat V. Phoenix Suns

LeBron James had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Dwyane Wade scored 22 points and the Miami Heat beat the Phoenix Suns 124-99 on Monday night. Chris Bosh finished with 18 points and Ray Allen had 15 for Miami (3-1), which is averaging 111.8 points to open the season.

Los Angeles Lakers V. Portland Trail Blazer

Dwight Howard’s 33 points and 14 rebounds were not enough for the Los Angeles Lakers in a 116-106 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. Nicolas Batum had 26 points in handing the Lakers their second straight loss to open the season. The Lakers’ troubles were compounded by the loss of guard Steve Nash to a bruised left leg late in the first half.
